Reading habits

Read more by making the next page easy to reach

A sustainable reading habit depends less on ambition than on reducing small points of friction.

Keep the current book visible

Place the book where a natural pause already happens: beside a chair, near the kettle, or in the bag used for commuting. Visibility turns a vague intention into an available option. The aim is not to eliminate screens, but to let reading compete fairly for a few quiet minutes.

Stop at a useful moment

Ending a session in the middle of a chapter can make returning easier because the question or scene is still active. A small bookmark note can capture one idea worth remembering. There is no requirement to finish a fixed number of pages for the session to count.

Allow books to be abandoned

Some books arrive at the wrong time, and some are simply not useful. Setting one aside protects attention for the books that create curiosity. A reading list is a set of possibilities, not a contract that must be completed in order.

In brief: Make the book visible, read in small intervals, and release titles that no longer hold attention.
